Exterior and Interior
The Silverado 2500HD comes in three different configurations: standard on the WT and LT trims, extended on all save the High Country with doors that open forward, and crew on all trims with 43.4 inches of back legroom. There are two length options for the bed: eight feet or 6.75 feet. New 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Specs
The popular crew cab and short bed length configuration has an overall length of 250 inches which is identical to the Ford F-250 with a similar configuration. A front bench is standard which allows for a maximum of six seats, however, the High Country’s standard center console limits the count to five.

The base model comes with a standard seven-inch touchscreen display that has two USB ports, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, Android Auto compatibility, and Apple CarPlay. The LT trim has two more USB ports for the backseat passengers in addition to a 13.4-inch horizontal touchscreen that comes pre-installed with Google. The Custom trim adds SiriusXM.
Engine and Performance
There are two engine options for the Silverado: a 6.6-liter gas V8 or a 6.6-liter turbocharged diesel V8. An automatic transmission with ten speeds is fitted to both. At $9,490, the diesel powertrain is pricey since it comes with several electrical and structural modifications for demanding tasks. New 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Specs
Standard equipment includes rear-wheel drive; a low-range four-wheel-drive system with an automated setting is available for $2,800 on the LTZ and standard equipment on the High Country. The EPA has not rated this vehicle because of the heavy-duty pick-up truck’s anticipated variable use.
New 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Fuel Economy
Truck buyers rarely expect advanced infotainment systems, and it’s a good thing because lower trims are almost shockingly basic. A seven-inch touchscreen supports Bluetooth and smartphone mirroring in WT and Custom models, but you’ll need a mid-range LT to receive connected services, WiFi hotspot capabilities, or satellite radio. LTZ models gain a bigger eight-inch touchscreen, remote start, and an alarm, while High Country is unique in benefiting from a seven-speaker Bose stereo and navigation. Active features including automatic headlights, an HD rearview camera, a forward-distance indication, and automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection are all included with the 2500HD. The WT ($845) and Custom include an optional Safety Package that comes with blind spot recognition, rear parking sensors, and rear cross-traffic warning.
The LT Safety Package also includes HD surround-view cameras with a camera for the bed, trailer provisions for the blind spot zone, and the trailering app, which helps verify specific trailer safety features and enables the integration of additional cameras into the infotainment display for $1,385. In addition to the vibrating safety seat and front parking sensors that are part of the optional Safety Package, the LTZ grade also has a digital rearview mirror and a head-up display for $1,275 through the Technology Package.
